We’re in the last weeks of the Fall Semester, as thanks for your time and service Environmental Task Force is throwing a mini-party during our last meeting at noon this Friday, November 15th in room 102 of the Math and Psychology building! It was an awesome first semester for the org, make sure to be at the meeting to hear what amazing projects we’ve got planned for the Spring Semester as well as to join in on the fun and games.
Directly after our meeting we will be having a service program with (PHG) Patapsco Heritage Greenway from 1-4pm. We will be providing tree maintenance along the stream across the street from Arbutus Middle School! If you’re interested in the service program, please be prepared to leave the Math/Psychology building with us by 12:45 so that we can all walk up there together.
Good luck on finals, and looking forward to seeing you all this Friday!
PHG Tree Maintenance/Ivy Removal Service Project
Friday, November 15, 2013
Off of Shelbourne Avenue, directly across the street from Arbutus Middle School Grounds, located on UMBC property.
WHAT TO WEAR:
Wear comfortable waterproof shoes and clothes that can get dirty or wet. We recommend our volunteers wear long pants and shirt, so any prickly underbrush or insects won’t bother you, and water proof shoes or boots to keep your feet dry if you are willing to go in the stream to remove invasive ivy or remove some trash!
WHAT TO BRING:
We do have some tools, but appreciate when volunteers bring their own; otherwise, you will be using your hands or will have to need to share with others who don’t bring them. Please mark your name on any tools/equipment you bring with permanent marker so in case we find them later, we can be sure to return them to you!
We also appreciate and recommend you bring your own work gloves, water/drink, sunscreen and insect repellent. If you are allergic to insect bites or stings, please bring any needed medications and notify the tree captain of your allergy.
There are no nearby restrooms available, so please plan accordingly!
